Up Up and Away, in Milan

Favorite part of Milan? The roof of the Duomo. Hands down, the coolest experience in Milan.

You have to walk up a million steps, but you can walk all over the roof, under the buttresses on the terrace and above the cathedral. It's really cool and gives you an awesome perspective of the city. We went RIGHT AFTER they opened and that was probably the best decision we made on the trip. No line whatsoever and we nabbed that early morning light! 

We passed by a few hours later and the line wrapped around the building. No thank you.

Get there early.

I packed mostly browns and neutrals for the trip, but for this look, I wanted something a little romantic. Apparently channeling Steel Magnolias... "My colors are blush and bashful, Mama!"

(one of Mike's favorite films that I really don't care for... but is a classic)

Huge trend this winter? Layering up coats! A bomber jacket or a denim jacket underneath a topcoat is a great way to add warmth, but it also takes your style level up a notch. You can apply the same rule to blazers. Try layering a denim jacket under your blazer or a vest on top for a new take on layered tailoring. 

It warmed up later in the day, so I stashed my wool coat in my backpack and went with just the palm print bomber and cropped pants.
