Popping Up In Williamsburg

The French are just so damn chic.

I thought that when we were in Paris in April, but I’m reminded of it every time I go into an agnès b. store in NYC. The cuts are relaxed, the fabrics are elevated and the style is just so effortlessly… chic. (there’s no better word for it)

If you’re not familiar with agnès b., she has been designing French classics for every generation since the 70’s. The brand opened their first US store in SoHo in the early 80’s. She’s known for her staple snap button cardigans and striped tees, but she’s also a huge proponent of art.

Since the beginning, art has been sold in her stores and is an integral part in every collection. I was just reading that her first shop in Paris had a children’s swing and she randomly had an aviary in the shop. Birds could fly freely around the store, build nests in the displays and lay eggs. You don’t see shopping experiences like that anymore! How fun!?

She’s constantly doing partnerships with artists. Her latest collab is with Electra Eggleston, daughter of photographer William Eggleston. I think that's one of my favorite parts of the brand. How she ties in artists and brings together multiple generations. Agnès surrounds herself with creative and cool people.

For their Fall collection, agnès b. has expanded to Brooklyn! They just opened a pop-up shop at the Wythe hotel in Williamsburg. It’s tucked away in the little library/lounge corner of the lobby. Keeping with the art theme, you can shop the new Electra Eggleston collab and see an Art Instillation Wall from Pablo Jomaron. See more details about the shop HERE.

But back to the clothes! Cuz their Fall collection is killer.

I think my favorite pieces so far are this chunky cream turtleneck and this long donegal coat. SO GOOD. It’s still a little too warm outside for all those heavy layers but I’m jumping head first into turtlenecks. The indigo one I am wearing right now is a knit material, like a thick, stretchy t-shirt. The bomber is a heavy wool and I’m mashing together two different plaids with the subtle print in these trousers

I’m definitely adopting a few styling tips from the French this season. I’m all about turtlenecks, stripes and relaxing my fits a bit. Bring on the Fall layers!!
