A Timely Refresh

I always find interior design is SO much more interesting when the pieces in your home have a story behind them. I have a sheepskin rug to remind me of my trip to Iceland, a plaster casting of Michelangelo's David's eye I picked up at the British Museum in London, an ink blot circle from a new retail concept store I helped open in Flatiron... even the subway print on my wall is a reproduction of a 1949 MTA map. Everything is just cooler when there is a story behind it!

Today, I'm injecting a little color AND history into my decor with these awesome clocks from Chelsea Clock. After repainting our living room, I was on a roll and started redoing our decor in almost every room! I wanted a healthy mixture of artwork, mirrors, wall planters and clocks on the walls. It's an eclectic mix, but when you stick to a specific color palette (as I always do), the result feels polished and fresh.

Chelsea Clock started making clocks in 1897! They're most known for their ship's bell clocks and all of the clocks in this post are from their Patriot Colors Collection, which is inspired by Chelsea's WWII-era Navy engine room clocks. How cool is that?! Spring is the perfect time to add a few nautical touches here and there in your home, so I tied in the theme with a rope monkey knot and wave candle.

I don't feel like my generation fully appreciates a well-placed clock. I love how graphic and bold these timepieces feel in each room. They're classic but modern at the same time. They're functional art!

You can shop all five colors below! Which one is your favorite? I'm digging the green.  ;)
