I'm a hot coffee drinker, even in the middle of the summer. There's a brief period in July that I'll switch over to cold coffee to prevent heat stroke, but it's just not my thing. My partner, Mike, on the other hand drinks nothing but cold brew. Even in the dead of winter!

Opposites attract, I suppose?

Our coffee yin and yang makes brewing coffee at home hard though. We can't just share a pot of coffee and to be honest, cold brew is a pain in the ass to make yourself!  Well, it was till Cuisinart came along...

Traditional cold brew coffee takes 24 hours to brew. You have to let coffee grounds soak in cold water, you can't just pour hot coffee over ice. It's not the same. Cold brew is less acidic than hot coffee and naturally smoother and sweeter. It's hot water that tends to draw out the extra oils that create acid.

Cuisinart found a way to cut out 23.5 hours out of that equation though! Their Cold Brew Coffee Machine spins the coffee through the cold water, speeding up the whole process. You can brew a 7 cup carafe in as little as 25 min, which is almost as fast as it takes me to do a hot coffee pour-over.

Mike doesn't drink 7 cups all at once, but he does drink about 4 and refrigerates the rest. He has used it a few times now and suggests you use a dark roast coffee and set it to 'Bold' for the best cup.
