What I'm Wearing This Fall, from City to Trail

I love hiking, fishing, climbing, snowmobiling, skiing, boating… pretty much anything that involves the outdoors. It’s one of the main reasons I moved back to New York after living in Phoenix for 10 years. I missed the mountains and the forest!!

But if I’m going to be honest, I haven’t been hiking in the most… functional… clothing.

I had a serious reality check a few weeks back on a road trip to Upstate New York. I set out on a hike to an overlook in Beacon, wearing my usual city boots and a leather jacket. The outfit looked great, but after 30 minutes, I was sweating, my feet were slipping and then it started to rain. I had to rush back to the car because I was clearly unprepared. So I decided it was high time to get my act together and find clothing that could take me from the city, to all of my mountain adventures.

Hi-Tec is an active outdoor lifestyle brand known for their high-quality, affordable hiking boots and crossover footwear. This fall, they launched an entire line of outdoor crossover apparel and accessories. Like their name suggests, they incorporate innovative technology into all their shoes. Like i-Shield, which is a protective layer that repels water and dirt, and XLR8, which is an impact-absorbing midsole that’s 10% lighter and more absorbent than other hiking boots in the market.

I took the Hi-Tec boots for a spin on the trail and did my best to muddy them up, and as you can see in the photo below, nothing stuck! They’re made for all weather and are super functional, so I guess I’ll have to try harder next time in harsher conditions. ;)

Hi-Tec recently branched out from their innovative footwear and launched their first apparel line! It includes everything from hooded jackets, to henleys, thermals, pants and more. All of which has the same proprietary technology woven in. The Dri-Tec in this silver jacket helps wick moisture from the skin, is water repellent and dries rapidly. So it’s exactly what I was missing on my hike a few weeks back!

Each piece also has really cool hidden features. The grey button down I’m wearing has an eyeglass cleaner tucked into the tail! The pants have a fair amount of stretch to them and breathe really well, so they’re perfect when you’re walking around on the mountain for a long time.

It’s not all mountain gear though. Their new line is perfect for any outdoor occasion. This grey button down (with double utility pockets), baseball cap and lightweight, stretch jacket are also from Hi-Tec.
